Selling & Renting of Homes

Elmhurst Energy Systems

Government legislation now requires all homes being sold, built or leased to make available an Energy Performance Certificate to prospective purchasers or tenants.

This can only be provided by an approved and suitably accredited Energy Assessor. RCT energy are qualified and accredited to provide EPCs for the sale and renting of residential property by Elmhurst Energy Systems who are a government accredited body.

What does the Assessor do?

The energy assessor will visit the property to gather information about floor area, construction, insulation, heating and lighting. This can take up to an hour. This information is later inputted into specialized computer software after certain assumptions are made on how the property is used by occupiers. The EPC produced will give the building a rating from A to G. An A rating shows it to be very efficient, meaning lower fuel bills, while G is inefficient, meaning higher fuel bills. The certificate will also show the building's environmental impact by indicating its carbon-dioxide emissions.
